Seafarers’ Festival a swashbuckling success

AROUND 5000 graced the Bellerive Boardwalk for the Seafarers’ Festival on 27 October.

This year’s focus on Errol Flynn the seafarer was highlighted by “Hollywood-esque” MC Ryk Goddard adopting the role of Flynn, Big Monkey’s Robin Hood on stage and the interactive demonstration by the Tasmania University Union Fencing Society.

The pleasant spring day presented first-time appearance by the Huon Pedal Boats and new attractions like the Crown and Anchor game, while patrons also heralded the return of festival family favourites including the Eastlands Costume Competition, blindfolded rowing challenge and the crusty pirate-dunking machine.

Frank and Nikki of the Betta Milk Protection Squad hosted the Betta Milk Raft Challenge, The Foley Artists charmed the stage and the Tasmanian Royal Australian Navy Day performed to an appreciative dance floor.
