Put a spring in your step
IT may be difficult to imagine during these chilly winter nights, but spring is not far away and the first City of Hobart floral show will soon be in full bloom.
The magnificent Hobart Town Hall auditorium will be the venue for the free spring flower shows, which are organised by the Hobart Horticultural Society and Tasmanian Orchid Society
These include the Daffodil, Camellia and Floral Art Show from 8-9 September, the Orchid Show from 21-24 September and the Rose, Iris and Floral Art Show from 3-4 November.
International illustrator and designer Alyssa Bermudez will be offering informal art classes for all ages on Saturday 9 September and Saturday 4 November from 1-4pm.
Celebrated Tasmanian botanic artist and print maker Deborah Wace will bring her easel and dry point plates on Friday 8 September from 1-4pm and Saturday 9 September from 11am-3pm.
This year, Franks Cider will be offering extra incentive for garden clubs to enter the Daffodil, Camellia and Floral Art Show by gifting a $50 voucher for the club that wins the horticultural display.
The Rotary Club of Salamanca will also be providing delicious Devonshire teas and fresh sandwiches at all the shows, excluding Thursday 21 September.
