New Town ideas set to flow

HOW can the New Town Road retail precinct be improved?

The City of Hobart is looking for ideas from people who live near, shop in or run a business in New Town Road between Pirie Street and Risdon Road.

A workshop to gather ideas from the community will be held on Thursday 24 August from 6-8pm at Sacred Heart College.

Child minding and supper will be available for participants and an online survey will be available for people who can’t make it to the workshop.

The ideas gathered will help form the New Town Project – a part of the Transforming Hobart Capital Works Plan which is set to revamp six Hobart shopping strips.

Sandy Bay is nearing completion, with Lenah Valley scheduled to start later this year.

New Town, Elizabeth Street, South Hobart and Battery Point will follow.

For those who are really passionate about the area, the City of Hobart is also looking for people to join the ‘Project Action Team’ to help shape the project’s direction.

The team will meet on a few evenings in September and November and attend a workshop on Saturday 4 November.

For more information, to register for the action team or to complete the online survey, visit yoursay.hobartcity.com.au/newtownprecinct.

To RSVP to the workshop, phone Alison Surtees on 6238 2930 or email coh@hobartcity.com.au.
