Local pool set for million-dollar facelift

THE Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre will receive a facelift under a multi-million dollar redevelopment plan.

The first stage of the project is underway, with a gas-powered hot water system being installed.

The new hot water system will be more reliable than the current system, providing consistent heating for the pools and showers.

The centre will be closed while the hot water system is being commissioned between 3pm on Saturday 17 February and 6am on Monday 19 February.

The new hot water system is just one of a number of improvements included in the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre redevelopment project.

Some of the planned works include a new indoor/outdoor café, a larger gym, a new retrofitted spa, new change rooms and better car park facilities.

The Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre masterplan can be found on the City of Hobart website, along with a full list of proposed improvements at www.hobartcity.com.au/aquaticcentre.
