Hobart City’s carols tradition burns brightly

FOLLOWING the resounding success of last year’s program, Hobart’s 2013 Carols by Candlelight event will be again returning to the “home of the carols” – St David’s Park.

Held over two nights, Saturday 14 December and Sunday 15 December, the free family event will present a choir of carols singers and a backing band performing a traditional repertoire of Christmas songs.

This year’s star-studded lineup includes local performers Andrew Hickman, Lizzie Moore, Grace Ovens, Shewit Belay and Martine Holliday,

Patrons are encouraged to bring along families, a picnic basket, and rugs and cushions to enjoy what will be a night together of dance and song under the stars.

And adding to the night’s excitement, a special visit from Santa will keep the children waiting with bated breath.

Carols by Candlelight is a free ticketed event (pre-collected ticket wristbands required) for the entire community.

Wristbands can be collected at Hobart City Council’s Customer Service Centre, the Hobart Aquatic Centre, Elizabeth Mall Information Booth and the Argyle Street Car Park enquiries desk.

Gates open at 5pm. The event commences at 8.15pm and runs until 10pm.

The event is sponsored by Southern Cross Television, Hobart’s 7HOFM, Metro and Variety the Children’s Charity.
