BUSINESSES and individuals throughout Hobart have been rewarded for their excellence in customer service at the 2015 City of Hobart Exceptional Customer Service Awards, held at the Hobart Town Hall on 21 October.
Lord Mayor Sue Hickey said the City of Hobart was proud to host the awards, which played an important role in raising standards, while also recognising the value of excellent customer service.
“To win a Hobart Exceptional Customer Award a business must demonstrate high standards of management, training and commitment to excellence,” she said.
“The business finalists and winners were all committed to exceptional customer service and the importance of going above and beyond to set themselves apart from their competitors.”
Deputy Lord Mayor and chairman of the council’s economic development and communications committee, Alderman Ron Christie, said this year saw the introduction of an exciting new award – the City of Hobart Award for Innovation in Customer Service.
“This award recognises the importance of innovation in customer service and recognises those businesses that dynamically adapt themselves to their customers’ needs,” he said.
“These are the businesses that create more effective processes, products and ideas.
The Innovation in Customer Service Award was presented to Salamanca Dental for its exemplary approach to customer service, training and staff.
Ald Christie said Salamanca Dental had consistently displayed a culture of “constant improvement and innovation.”
He also praised the organisation for its ability to “pivot and change in the face of customer feedback.”
“This commitment to excellence extended to the innovative layout of the practice and lounge, the provision of complimentary consultations for treatment plans, as well as its overwhelmingly positive attitude to complaints and the extra things that a business does to make its customers feel valued,” Ald Christie said.
Salamanca Dental practice owner and principal dentist Dr Marta Bauk said patients were the reason “why we are in practice and how we stay in practice.”
“Providing exceptional customer service allows us to continue to operate in the community and strive for excellence,” she said.
“It allows us to offer a service that is tailored to the needs of our patients and to reach out to everyone in need of dental education, prevention and treatment.
“As a result, oral care is delivered in a way that is meaningful and well received by our patient’s.
“We’ve aligned the entire practice around one mission – to provide the best dental care possible from our patient’s point of view and not just the providers.”
Dr Bauk said the team at Salamanca Dental would like to thank the City of Hobart for organising an evening “that presented the best of Hobart’s businesses.”
“We are very proud to be the winner of not only our category, but the overall winner for Hobart Exceptional Customer Service Awards,” she said.
“We are very proud of our service and invite new patients to join us so that we can start them on a positive dental journey.”
