Footpaths expand on Salamanca Place
THE renowned atmosphere of Salamanca will soon get a boost with work starting this month to widen the footpaths.
The Hobart City Council is rebuilding and repaving the footpath between Montpelier Retreat and Gladstone Street to make for easier walking and provide additional outdoor dining space.
As part of the works, tables and chairs will be moved away from buildings to help people with disabilities better able to navigate the area.
A number of on-street parking spaces will also be removed to make way for the wider path.
These works are expected to take three-months to complete and make up stage one of a larger plan for Salamanca Place.
