Brooker Avenue pedestrian bridge underway

THE City of Hobart will begin construction on a safe, all-ability accessible pedestrian and bicycle crossing over Brooker Avenue this month.

The Brooker Avenue pedestrian bridge is part of the Transforming Hobart project to advance Hobart’s pedestrian network.

It will link the city centre from Bathurst Street across Brooker Avenue to the Domain.

The Brooker Bridge will improve connections between the inner city, Queens Domain sporting and recreation facilities and the Glebe residential area, as well as between University of Tasmania (UTAS) campuses at Campbell Street and the Domain.

The bridge is expected to be finished early next year.

The footpath closest to the Brooker Avenue between Bathurst Street and the UTAS School of Nursing and Midwifery will be closed during construction.

All other footpaths through the University Domain Campus and the University Rose Garden will remain open.

Signage will be erected to direct pedestrians.
