Beachside Women’s FC celebrates fundraising efforts

IN an act of goodwill, Sandy Bay residents have rallied together to support the Beachside Women’s Football Club after its entire soccer kit was stolen in a car burglary.

Team member Ash Fisher woke up one morning to discover her brother’s car had been broken into and her entire team’s kit was gone.

The team lost more than $2000 worth of equipment including uniforms, cones, bibs, hats and other playing equipment.

Ms Fisher decided to start a GoFundMe page to help raise money to replace what was stolen.

Ms Fisher said the girls were “understandably devastated” that someone would feel it necessary or fun to take something that would serve them no purpose.

She said it was surreal to have raised their fundraising goal in just one month.

“The fact that we fundraised $2000 is incredible,” Ms Fisher said.

“I honestly didn’t think it would get there, and the fact that it did speaks volumes to the community in which we play and the wonderful people who support our club and got behind us during a pretty tough time.

“The girls are so unbelievably appreciative, they really are amazed by the tremendous amount of support within the community and at our club.

“We couldn’t be more thankful to everyone that helped.”
