NORTH Hobart Veterinary Hospital (NHVH) is celebrating birthday number two in its new premises by dubbing April its “birthday month”.
Originally located in Tasma Street since its establishment in the 1950s, NHVH moved to a new location to accommodate expansion and a growing client base.
“After several renovations there was just no more room to expand and with our evolving client base and our ever expanding services it was obvious that we needed a new building,” NHVH director Dr Maree Richards said.
“After an extensive search, some land was purchased near our previous home and in 2012, building of the new NHVH commenced.”
NHVH’s new home opened on 28 April 2013 and the extra room has allowed the business to extend its services further, including a cat only waiting area, cat boarding, digital radiography and more merchandise space.
NHVH director Dr Jennifer Cormack said a state-of-the-art operating theatre and the employment of a residential surgical specialist had allowed them to provide surgical services of the highest standard.
“We have more consult rooms which means that stressed animals can spend some quiet time before their appointments,” she said.
“I also really love the couches in the consulting rooms as they allow some of my more nervous patients to be able to sit next to their owners and feel more secure, making their exams much less stressful.”
NHVH’s “birthday month” celebrations will culminate in the final week of April – Monday 27 April to Friday 1 May.
“Come in to NHVC during that week and wish us a happy birthday to go in the draw to win an amazing ‘Tasmania Pack’ filled with goodies from our local Tasmanian businesses,” NHVH director Dr Manty Abbot said.
“Two years passes so quickly, yet we are still finding things we love about the new building.”
