Public asked to nominate important trees

THE City of Hobart is asking for suggestions for additions to its Significant Trees Register.

Anyone can make a nomination to the register before 1 May 2018 for trees on public or private property.

Nominations are assessed according to the tree’s aesthetic significance, outstanding size, age, links to historic events or people, landmark significance, rarity or ecological value.

Hotspots for currently listed significant trees include the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Runnymede in New Town, Domain House site on Brooker Avenue and Fitzroy Gardens.

To view the current register and download a nomination form, visit or the Council Centre on the corner of Davey and Elizabeth streets.
