COLES has created 12 new jobs and an enhanced shopping experience in Sandy Bay following the official opening of its “new look” supermarket in late November.
To celebrate the completion of the refurbishment, the Coles Sandy Bay team held a special ceremony featuring speeches and cutting of the cake and ribbon to officially welcome locals through the doors.
The honour of cutting the ribbon went to the store’s longest-servicing team member Debbie Dillon, who has been serving the community for 33-years.
Ms Dillon started at Coles in New Town and has now been at Sandy Bay for more than 18-years.
“I’ve seen so many changes over time, from new technologies to new designs like the open-style butchery, which we now have in-store,” Ms Dillon said.
“It has been wonderful working with Coles and building great friendships with our customers and team members over the years.
“I see our regulars as family and I’m so excited to show them the refreshed store – just in time for the busy festive season.”
Store manager Brad Mcarthur said the team was excited to offer customers a bigger and better supermarket in time for Christmas.
“We’re thrilled to welcome 12 new recruits as a result of the refurbishment and I know they’re going to be in good hands with team members like Debbie and Lisa, who collectively have more than 60-years of experience serving the Hobart community,” he said.
“We’re committed to the local community and enjoy giving back where we can.
“The team has also enjoyed partnering with the Queenborough Little Athletics Centre with weekly donations of bananas to energise kids and we’re hoping to raise as much as possible for Redkite this Christmas, with the $2 donation cards at the checkouts.”
