International recognition for Crime Stoppers Tasmania

CRIME Stoppers Tasmania has been presented with two prestigious international awards in recognition of its outstanding work in the community.

Crime Stoppers Tasmania Deputy Chair David (Dickie) Daniels OAM has been awarded the Crime Stoppers International Civilian of the Year award in recognition of his 20-years of dedicated service.

Tasmania has also won the Crime Stoppers International Award for Best Community Engagement for the highly successful ‘My Home, Our Community’ campaign.

Tasmanian Liberal Senator Eric Abetz, who presented the awards, said Crime Stoppers Tasmania did an “outstanding job” in empowering local communities to keep residents safe.

“I’ve had a long association with Crime Stoppers Tasmania and I am delighted to see them recognised on the national and international stage for their work,” he said.

“David Daniels has provided selfless devotion and persistent service to Crime Stoppers Tasmania and his awarding of the Citizen of the Year is highly deserved.

“Crime Stoppers Tasmania’s My Home, Our Community campaign wasn’t only successful in Tasmania, but is now being recognised around the world as the best practice model for community engagement.

“I congratulate Mr Daniels and all involved with Crime Stoppers Tasmania for their continued dedication to our local community.”
